Each week I will give you an Art Lesson you can work on from home! Please send me photos of your child working and their end product! I am excited to see what each of you do!
LESSON 1 - KINDNESS POSTER
March 30 - April 3
Art makes us feel all kinds of emotions. This week we will make ART that will make you feel GOOD. You can give it to someone or hang it somewhere for everyone to see. I want everyone smiling and spreading JOY this week with their ART.
LESSON 2Â - MANDALAS
April 20 - April 25
This week we are concentrating on Art in Nature by creating Mandalas with objects from nature. A Mandala is a circular form often used to represent the universe. Mandalas come in all sizes and can be simple or elaborate.
Directions:
Go outside and gather ANY natural materials such as sticks, stones, leaves or flowers. Make sure you collect many of each kind of natural objects.
Choose one natural object for the center of your mandala.
Find a good spot to make your Mandala like in the grass, sidewalk, pavement, or on a deck. Your mandala can be BIG or small. Place your one natural object in the center.
Now, use your other objects to create a circle around your center object. A helpful way to create even spacing is to follow a specific order when placing objects. First, place one above, one below, one on the left, and one on the right. Then place objects in between each of the 4 objects you just laid out to create an even circle. Continue around in a circle.
Lastly, take a picture of your Mandala and send it to Mrs. Jones.
MANDALA
LESSON 3 - LETTERS IN NATURE
April 27 - May 1
This week we will create letters in Nature. You will create a word or your name by taking pictures of letters in nature. Look around and see what letters you can see around you in nature. PreK, K, 1st, & 2nd Grade may create their letters with nature. 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grades will look for letters around in nature.
Directions:
Decide whether you want to do your name, pick a word, or a message to find letters for. Write it down on a piece of paper so you can remember what letters you are looking for. Mark them off as you find them and take the picture.
PreK, K, 1st, & 2nd grades will create the letters of their name or word by making the letters with nature. You can create your letters with different objects in nature or different ones. Take a picture of each letter.
3rd, 4th, & 5th grades will look around outside for letters in nature. Take a walk and look around by observing the shapes in nature. Find the letters for your name or word. Take a picture for each letter.
**If you can’t get outside, this can also be done inside! OR find letters BOTH, INSIDE and OUTSIDE for fun! **

CAN YOU FIND THE LETTERS?
Below are some of the photographs I took on my walk today. As I walked around, I began by just looking at nature up close. I looked for lines and shapes. Lines, shapes, and forms are everywhere in nature. I took pictures when I saw a letter appear to me. Can you tell which letters are in each photograph?
